Dimapur: Holding on to its stand that Ductile Iron (DI) pipes should be used in the implementation of Gravity Water Supply Scheme in Tuensang, the All Tuensang Town Non-governmental Organization Union (ATTNGOU) has demanded of the PHE department to explain why the use of DI pipes in Tuensang is not feasible. The department has been told to publish their justification in the media failing which the government establishment will be treated as “cheaters, manipulators and swindlers.” The ATTNGOU said in a release that it had details of the successful implementation of the use of DI pipes in Shimla. “By concocted stories and brain washing a few leaders is not a conclusion,” the release said while demanding that the PHED should come out with a clear statement explaining its position in the implementation of the use of Galvanized Iron pipes in Tuensang Town.

“The department cannot wash its hands by taking some organizations’ support,” the ATTNGOU cautioned and forewarned, “Let us watch how far (the) department shall escape from the truth and reality.”

The union further stated that any negotiation by the PHED or the Nagaland Government should be made with them and not with “the third parties or organizations.” The reply to the memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister by the ATTNGOU is also awaited.

Informing of a meeting held between the ATTNGOU and the landowners of Tuensang Village C Khel, the release said those who attended the joint meeting decided that since the department was ignoring the “justice demanded for the Tuensang people by going ahead with the laying of GI pipes,” it now fell upon the PHED to stop doing so.
