In view of the November 16 incident meted out to one Japra Swuro, Block Development Officer (BDO), RD Block, Phek and his personnel driver Maotemjem by 10 IRB Personnel in civil dress where the same was posted at Phek-Losami Junction approximately 6 Kilometers away from Phek Town, the staffs of BDO, RD Block Phek had a close sitting at the office and had firmly resolved to condemn the incident in the strongest terms.
In a sitting attended by all the staffs, the nature of the incident was lengthily deliberated upon.
While observing the incident, the staff of the said office considered the incident as a “Direct insult” to the whole staff of the office. At their gathering, the staff unanimously resolved to question the concerned department of the 10 IRB in particular and the Government of Nagaland in general about why a mere constable who was in civil dress was allowed to harass a high designated officer for no reason.
The staff also strongly voiced out that an errant cadre should be immediately punished as per the law of the Government rules. They further questioned the department as to why the government still remains a mute spectator, and demanded hat the errant cadre must immediately face trial in the applicable court so as to maintain peaceful atmosphere in the society. Such irresponsible cadres have no moral right to continue as servants of the Government for there are many fit and responsible youths in the Naga society to serve the same, they stated.
The officials also questioned the Government, as to whether it deployed the said Coy to harass the innocent Government servant or to protect the general public in times of need; and that this ugly incident has definitely created tension in the minds of the general public. They further said that if a mere constable was allowed to act in such a manner, then the state of law and order in the land was in a serious condition.
In the concluding part of their sitting, the staff termed the incident as “Ugly” and further termed the errant Cadre as a “Coward and irresponsible cadre” and his actions as ‘childish act. They also appealed to the higher authority to immediately suspend him until the amicable solution to this incident was resolved.
