Child friendly zones to be established in all districts of Nagaland

The Child Friendly Zone and e-Sewa Kendra have been inaugurated at District Court Complex, Phek by Lanusungkum Jamir, Judge, Guahati High Court and Executive Chairman, Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) on October 15 last.
Gracing the function as the chief guest, Jamir appreciated Deputy Commissioner Phek and Phek District Legal Service Authority (PDLSA) for assisting in setting up Child Friendly Zone under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme at Phek.
Jamir said that Child Friendly Zone is set up to provide conducive child friendly environment for the child victims of sexual abuse whereby the child can feel at home and their statement and trial can be taken without the presence of the accused and without any pressure.
He stated that the e-Sewa Kendra is a one-stop centre for the litigants, lawyers and the public to get information and know about the status of the case, judgment, order of case etc. from within the district court and outside the district courts and state.
Also speaking on the occasion, Neiko Akami, Registrar, Gauhati High Court, Kohima bench stated that the e-Sewa Kendra is a project under the initiative of the Supreme Court of India with an aim to promote paperless and virtual court.
The litigants, advocates and the public of Phek district can now get access to the status of their cases, proceeding, orders and judgments of the court from the e-Sewa Kendra at District Court Complex Phek, he said.
Victo Sema, Member Secretary, NSLSA stated that the child friendly zone is to be established in all the districts of Nagaland.
Wokono Yhoshu, JMFC and secretary Phek DLSA and Povotso Lohe, president Phek Bar Association thanked Lanusungkum Jamir and NSLSA for providing child friendly environment in the court and making the court proceeding child friendly.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Mezivolu T Therieh, District and Sessions Judge and chairperson PDLSA. Phek Deputy Commissioner Razouvolie Dozo, Phek Superintendent of Police Vesupra Kezo and several other officials also attended the function.
Child-Friendly Zone
Child-Friendly Zone is envisaged to bear a meaningful impact in fulfilling the rights of girls, facilitating the best interest of the girl and effectively disseminate speedy justice for the victim girl.
NSLSA recommended for establishing a Child Friendly Zone within the District Court premises under BBBP scheme to provide child friendly legal services to children and their protection.
The primary objective is to create an environment in the Juvenile Justice System, in which children are valued, encouraged and affirmed and have their rights respected and are met with Child friendly services and adjudication.
NSLSA has been monitoring the provisions of Juvenile Justice System, infrastructure, setup Institutional Care and support especially related to Crime against Children, the juveniles in conflict with law and children in need of care and protection.
It has come forward with a pragmatic approach to setup the Child-friendly Zone through inter-institutional convergence and coordination.
The core aim of BBBP scheme is to ensure gender equality, remove gender discrimination and empower child girls. It also incorporates intervention goals such as to promote a protective environment for Girl Children through implementation of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012.
About eSewa Kendra
It is meant for services for litigants, lawyers and public. It deals with handling inquiries about case status, next date of hearing and other details.
It facilitate online applications for certified copies, facilitate e-filing of petitions right from the scanning of hard copy petitions, appending eSignatures, uploading them onto CIS and generation of filing number.
Other facilities included; To assist in online purchase of e-Stamp papers/ e-Payments, to help in applying and obtaining Aadhaar based digital signature, publicise and assist in downloading the Mobile App of e-Courts for Android and 10S, facilitate in the booking of e-Mulakat appointments for meeting relatives in jail, handling queries about Judges on leave, guide people on how to avail free legal services from the District Legal Service Authority, High Court Legal Service Committee and Supreme Court Legal Service Committee ), facilitate disposal of traffic challan in virtual Courts as also online compounding of traffic challans and other petty offences.
It also to assist explaining the method of arranging and holding a video conference court hearing, provide soft copies of judicial orders/ judgments via e mall, WhatsApp or any other available mode and all other queries and assistance in respect of facilities which are digitally available under e-Courts Project.
