Phek DC issues travel advisory on Kohima-Jessami road

Kohima, August 17 (MExN): Phek Deputy Commissioner Kumar Ramnikant today informed that in view of incessant rain for the last few days, the stretch of the road from the existing Km. 30.474 (near Kidima road Chakhabama to existing Km 53.220 (near Kikruma village) (Design Km.29. 600 to Km 51.5) under Kohima-Jessami road (Package-11) on NH -29 has witnessed landslides and rock falls on multiple occasions thereby risking the life of public/travelers taking this route.

The concerned agency has deployed Emergent Repair Contractor for repair works under the said stretch of the road.

However, prolonged monsoon has obstructed regular maintenance of the road, stated Phek DC Kumar Ramnikant.

The stretch of the road leading from existing Km 30.474 (near Kidima road Chakhabama) to existing Km 53.220 (near Kikruma Village) (Design Km 29.600 to Km 51.5) under Kohima-Jessami road (Package11) on NH- 29 will be temporality restricted for all light motor vehicles and heavy vehicles with immediate effect, the DC stated.

The restriction is necessitated as a precautionary measure so as to prevent any injury, loss of life and damage to property. The DC advised the travelers to take the alternate route i.e via Zuketsa- Kidima till further order.
