Kohima, July 15 (MExN): The 2nd leg of Phek District Girls’ Music Band Competition for Chizami sub division as part of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign took place at Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, Chizami under the theme “Your Voice Your Strength.”
Band from Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School bagged the 1st position while the two Girls band from Government High School, Razeba stood the 1st and 2nd runner up respectively.
Altogether, 7 girls band joined the competition. The program chaired by Kelengunuo Solo, EAC Razeba.
Vileno Kapu, Women Welfare Office, District Level Centre for Women, Mahila Shakti Kendra Phek gave a keynote address and briefed the objectives of the competition and highlighted the importance of empowering the girl child by providing a platform to develop her confidence and build self-esteem.
She also encouraged all the participants to do away the culture of silence and speak out for themselves so that their voices could be heard.
The judges for the event include Vekuto Vero, SDO Civil Chizami, Anuo Longo CDPO Chizami and Veduzo Sasu, BDO Chizami.
