
Phek, April 13 (MExN): The monthly meeting of Phek District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) for the month of April 2018 was held on April 10 under the Chairmanship of DC & Vice Chairman DPDB, Phek, Shanavas C, IAS. Initiating the meeting, the chairman informed the house of the appointment of Neiba Kronu, MLA 16th A/C (Pfutsero) as Chairman DPDB, Phek, a DIPR news report stated.
Shanavas highlighted about the monsoon preparedness and deliberated on it. In this regard, the chairman invited five departments – viz., Executive Engineer PWD, R&B; Executive Engineer, Power; Executive Engineer, PHED; DSCO and Executive Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control Departments – to submit their comments, views and ideas for the monsoon season where certain vulnerable portion and pockets are to be identified, and give special attention. The Administrative Officers were asked to be extra vigilant and take measures for prevention of calamities.
PWD Executive Engineer, Abija Khing shared that his department was ready for such occurrence by convergence with the PWD Mechanical Department as the latter has enough machinery at their disposal. The board in this regard decided to write to the departments for help during needs, DIPR reported.
On the increasing demand for water, the chairman suggested rain water harvesting during dry/lean season. However, Er. T. Imtiakum informed that rain water harvesting is not at the department’s disposal because of the lack of regular fund. He also contended that the quality of water will be compromised comparatively and that rainwater harvesting may not be able to meet the needs of the growing population in the headquarters.
The DSCO was requested to send proposal in this regard on rooftop water harvesting as well as ring well, the DIPR report added.
With frequent power cuts during monsoon season, the chairman also made special emphasis to rectify this problem.
Er. Aron Sema highlighted the situation of power being fed from Meluri sub-division which, he stated, has many obstacles like the trees and landslides that disturb the regular supply of electricity. Secondly, the engineer pointed to the outdated insulators leading to frequent breakdowns. In such situation, installation of power in short durations is not possible in spite of the efforts made by his Department, he maintained.
In this connection, the department has been requested to send proposal to the Department for early remedy with the recommendation of DPDB, the DIPR report stated.
As entrusted the Forest Department & CMO medical gave the power point presentation of their respective department.
In the next DPDB meeting on May 10 the PHED and Power Department have been entrusted for Departmental presentation, the DIPR report said.
