Phek DPDB meet discusses cultivation of flowers

Phek, January 11 (DIPR): The Phek DPDB meeting was held on January 10 at the DC’s Conference Hall under the chairmanship of DC Phek, Mikha Lomi. The need for cultivation of varieties of flowers for commercial purpose was also discussed at length by the board. Therefore the Horticulture department was requested to study and give a technical viability report and further advised the farmers of the district for cultivation of crops and fruits, which would be beneficial for them.
It was also decided that awards should be given to a grade III and IV staff from the district during the upcoming Republic Day celebration. Therefore all the Head of Offices in Phek were asked to nominate and submit names of sincere grade III and IV staff to the DC office on or before January 15 for final screening and selection of awardees.
Work distribution for Republic Day celebration was also allotted to various concern offices and the Chairman requested all the members to give full cooperation for the grand success of the programme. Earlier, the meeting started with review of agenda and presentation of departmental activities by Horticulture, Education and Food Control departments. Phek physically being an agro based district the members pointed out on the suitability of certain crops and fruits to enhance production from the district.
The departments of Urban Development and Employment Exchange were entrusted by the board to give their departmental activities presentation in the next DPDB meeting.
