Phek, January 18 (MExN): Phek District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) monthly meeting was conducted at DPDB Hall, Phek on January 17. Speaking at the meeting, Minister for Power & Parliamentary Affairs and Chairman DPDB Phek, KG Kenye emphasised on the three existing National Highways under Phek district and commented ‘Phek as one of the most fortunate district in the State.’

Concerning the on-going construction of National Highways in Phek district, Kenye said that the construction companies/contractors have to give intensive efforts during the current dry season inorder to complete the roads on time stated a DIPR report. 

The members were informed by the Chairman about the prospective projects in the district which includes development of waterways (Tizu-Zunki Rivers) for which he requested the departmental officers for their sincere support wherever required. Minister also acknowledged his deep appreciation and gratitude towards Legislators, Committee Conveners/Members and HODs/Officers of Phek District for all the devoted efforts through which the Celebration of the 50 years of Phek District on 21th December 2023 was a grand success. 

Minister also suggested to put-up proposal for renovation, extension and furnishing of the DPDB Hall Phek at the same time. 

MLA & Advisor for Taxes & CAWD, Kudecho Khamo urged upon the officers to be devoted for far more progress of the district. MLA Dr Neisatuo Mero expressed appreciation towards Minister KG Kenye, his colleagues, MLAs and officials for making the celebration of 50 years of Phek district as success. 

Agendas for registration of societies of Phuyo Village Watershed Committee Sakraba-Reg and Kiavi Society, Zelome-Reg was discussed and forwarded to the government for approval. 

DSCO Peleneilhou Patrick made a PowerPoint presentation highlighting activities and functions of the Department of Soil and Water Conservation in the district. DEF Police and Higher Education Departments were entrusted for the presentation in the next meeting. 

Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman DPDB Phek, Kuko Mero, NCS conducted the discussion during the meeting.
