‘Phek Flavours’ Brand launched

“Phek Flavours,” a food processing brand from Phek village, marketed by the Rashe Society, was officially launched on March 8 in celebration of International Women’s Day.

The brand was initiated by Dr Pritpal Kaur, Superintendent of Police, Phek. It is dedicated to empowering the women’s community and promoting the rich flavors and varieties of fruits and vegetables from Phek.

The “Phek Flavours” group participated in the Farmers’ Fair-cum-Exhibition 2025 at Porba on March 19, organized by ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Phek, under the ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun, Medziphema.

Among the many products available at the fair were Banana Chips, Gooseberry Tea, Stinky Beans Pickle, Crushed Gin-Berry Salted, Puffed Rice, Mixed Vegetable Pickle, Ash Gourd Candy, and more.

“Phek Flavours” aims to promote local produce and showcase the unique flavors and varieties of Phek’s fruits and vegetables, supporting local farmers and the local economy. Additionally, the brand seeks to provide training, employment, and economic opportunities for women in the community, improving their socio-economic status and independence.

The initiative also focuses on documenting and promoting traditional farming practices, food preservation techniques, and recipes to ensure the cultural heritage of Phek is preserved for future generations. Furthermore, it aims to establish market linkages.
