Phek, May 25 (MExN): Phek Government College held a farewell programme on May 23 to bid adieu to its outgoing principal, Dr. T. Tiakaba Jamir, who has been transferred to Dimapur Government College after years of service.
The programme, held in the college’s Conference Hall, was chaired by Dr. Nutazo Lohe, Assistant Professor of History. Vevolu Khamo, Assistant Professor in the Education Department, opened the event with an invocation, and a special number by Seyieleno Nisa of the History Department set a reflective tone for the evening. Several faculty and staff members took the stage to pay tribute to Dr. Jamir, including Vice Principal Shepalu Suyie, Kuhusu (Head Assistant), Levinu Sakhrie (IQAC Coordinator), Neiwe Mero (President, PGCTA), and Vevolu Khamo, who also heads the Education Department.
Speakers praised Dr. Jamir’s visionary leadership and his contributions to the college’s development, citing milestones such as securing permanent affiliation with Nagaland University and achieving NAAC Accreditation with a B+ grade. His calm demeanor and steadfast work ethic were repeatedly highlighted as hallmarks of his tenure.
In his farewell address, Dr. Jamir expressed deep appreciation to the faculty, staff, and students for their support. “This small college community has had a big impact on my life,” he said. “It has taught me values and lessons that I will always treasure.” He encouraged the college to continue upholding its motto, “Lighted to Light.”
The event concluded with words of gratitude from Jonathan Kikon, General Secretary of the PGCTA, followed by a benediction from Libemo Shitiri (LDA), drawing to a close a memorable chapter in the institution’s history.
