Phek: Nonie Chizo adjudged ‘Best Recruit’ on passing out parade from ARTC&S Diphu

Phek, November 21 (MExN): 2017 graduate badge from Phek Government College (PGC), Nonie Chizo was felicitated by the 38th Assam Rifles, Phek Battalion at the college on November 21 for being adjudged as the ‘Best Recruit’ on her passing out parade from Assam Rifles Training Centre and School, Diphu last year.

Chizo was honoured with the felicitation by 38 AR Commandant, Col Prashant Singh Chundawat (SC) in the presence of PGC Principal, Dr T Tiakaba Jamir, college faculties, and officers from 38 AR, and parents and well wishers of Nonie Chizo.

According to a press statement issued by 38 AR Commandant, Col Prashant Singh Chundawat, Nonie Chizo was provided with adequate guidance and motivation by Assam Rifles, Phek Battallion some years back. The entrance exam for Staff Selection Commission (SSC) for Assam Rifles was conducted in the year 2021 and she joined the training centre in December 2022 after clearing her physical, medical and written SSC examinations. It was reported that she completed her training and took oath on November 8 and is currently posted at Mizoram. She is currently under preparatory leave and was with her parents at home and is likely to join her battalion in the second week of December 2023.

“Becoming one of the first women from Phekmi community to have accorded with such military service, she is hopeful that upcoming generations would join as such in the coming days,” the release stated.
