Phek: PSU 65th general session begins

A two-day long 65th general session- cum-cultural dance competition 2024 of the Phek Students’ Union (PSU) under the theme “Promoting education through mother tongue” commenced today at Phek village local ground.

Gracing the inaugural session, Zhokupa Hoshi, Assistant Programme Officer, School Education, Government of Nagaland emphasised on creative ideology, clear mindset and to stand firm on one’s principle.

Talking on the topic “Unite and Ignite: Empowering tomorrow’s trailblazers,” he stressed on the need to support the trailblazers and celebrate with it. Touching on the use of mobile phones, Hoshi said “we should be the master of mobile phones and not let it be our master.” He advised the students not to compare with another person “because God created each person differently.”

Sharing Eagle’s story, Hoshi asked the students to not dwell on the past but live in the present trends with a positive mindset. “One should live by examples and not by opinions if one has to change the society,” he said.

The most successful people don't have best of everything but they use best of what resources is available to them and become successful, he told the students.

Emphasising on the importance of time management, he said time doesn't wait “so one should make the best of the time available for the days to come.” He also asked the students to dream big and never give up till it is achieved.

Phekmi Collegiate Forum president, Vekupa Venuh shared greetings. The inaugural session was led by PSU former president Tuku Venuh while Phek Village Baptist Church Asst. Pastor Nukuvo Venuh invoked God’s blessings. PSU Magazine Secretary Chizoto Vero delivered welcome address. Veneto Venuh presented a special number while PSU general secretary Tsiipolii Vero highlighted PSU activities for the current tenure. PSU Statistical Secretary Shehuzo Hoshi led meritorious award while Sheduyi Venuh rendered special appearance.

The session was followed by business hour, literary session and exhortation by Shevozo Nienu, headmaster Government High School Phek Town.

Meanwhile, MLA Kuzholiizo (Azo) Nienu, leader NPF Legislature Party will be the cultural speaker on January 5. Chakhesang Public Organization President Veziihii Keyho and Phek Village Council Chairman Chivozo Soho will also address the session. Vechisayi Venuh, Assistant District Education Officer Phek will be the valedictory guest.

Folk dance competition winner will be awarded with late Huvekhuyi Soho Memorial Trophy along with Rs 20,000 as running money while 1st runner up will receive Rs 15,000 as running money, sponsored by Vepasa Venuh. The winner of Quartet Indigenous competition will be awarded with running prize of Rs 20,000 donated by Niekhozolu Venuh & family in memory of late Ezo Venuh.
