Phek RBSK team visits schools, Anganwadi centres

Phek, March 31 (MExN): Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Phek Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) team has visited 20 schools and 21 Anganwadi centres during the month of March as part of their monthly screening for the age group of 0-18 years. RBSK is a mobile Health Team under National Health Mission which aims to promote Child Health screening and early intervention services.

A total of 884 students were screened at schools for the 4Ds-Defects at Birth, Deficiencies, Diseases and Development Delays. Out of which 157 students were found positive with dental caries, 42 substance abuse (tobacco) , 8 vision impairment, 2 hearing impairment,1 Cognitive delay and 9 adolescent Health concerns. Altogether 61 students were referred to CHCs, 14 students to Adolescent Friendly Health Clinic (AFHC) and 3 students to District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC).

At Anganwadi centers total of 700 children’s were screened out of which 2 skin diseases and 1 Heart disease were detected. Apart from screening, health talks on tobacco and its effects, personal hygiene, awareness on oral health and its maintenance were imparted to school children.
