DC & CMO Phek along with participants during the World TB Day in Phek on March 24.

Phek, March 24 (MExN): Phek district observed World TB Day with Kumar Ramnikant, IAS Deputy Commissioner, Phek as the special guest on March 24. The programme was celebrated under the theme ‘Yes! We can end TB!’ at Dr Wethselo T Mero Memorial Hall, DH Phek, stated a press release received here.
The DC Phek his address said, ‘Tuberculosis can be eliminated from our society through the collective efforts of the society, village, and district.’ He spoke on the importance of awareness and sensitizing the public within the society. He also appealed the participants to extend support to the TB patients psychologically, financially.
Hongkin Chang, Additional SP in his exhortation said, “Stigma discrimination should be removed in our society. TB is curable and is treatable.”
Dr Chukhusie, DTO Phek shared the district Statistic of TB patients, spoke on the importance of monitoring the TB patient during medication etc. He acknowledged Nikshay Mitras in Absentia for the selfless contribution rendered for the elimination of Tuberculosis and all the NGOs for their coordination in this Mission.
During the programme, felicitation was done for the best CHO, ASHA, student winner of the competition carried out in the schools, TB champion of the district which was given out by Dr Khriezotuo Paphino, CMO Phek.
Other highlights include classical Recital Romanzo by Velato and special appearance from The Anchored Choir. The programme was chaired by Dr Wemeri Khutsoh while the invocation was invocated by Rev Dr Thupucuyi Khesoh, Pastor Phek Town Baptist Church.
Welcome address was delivered by Kuduvo Kezo DPO DAPCU and vote of thanks was given by Dr Visietsolie, Sr Specialist SMO DH, Phek. The programme was attended by Sahil Gaikwad Skill Development Officer, Phek, various organizations, Dobasis, staff of CMO & DH.
