Phek, January 31 (MExN): The Phek Town Youth Society (PTYS) today announced it will take necessary action against any extortion or illegal taxation by Naga Political Groups (NPGs) within Phek Town. The decision is in solidarity with a recent amendment by the Phek Town Public Forum (PTPF) to put on hold all kinds of taxation to all the NPGs from 2026 onwards, it stated in a press release.
The PTYS President, Seyengoi Soho and General Secretary, Vechichu Khamo stated that its stance is also in strict adherence to Para 3 of a State Government order dated April 29, 2024 (Order No. CON-1/G/41/2011(PT)).
“The notice is served in the interest of public welfare and peaceful co-existence,” the PTYS said.
The youth body also addressed the fragmentation within the Naga movement. “with the existence of multiple and ever growing factions claiming to represent one Naga aspiration, the Phek Town Youth Society calls and encourage all the NPGs to come together and strengthen the Naga National Movement in good faith with Unity,” it added.
