Pherima Students’ Union condemns Dec 20 incident

Dimapur, January 3 (MExN): The Pherima Students’ Union has condemned the December 20 incident at Pherima village wherein a mob led by AYO leaders vandalized a roadside hotel at Pherima village and “destroyed properties worth lakhs besides looting cash of more than lakh of rupees”.
The PSU in a condemnation note issued by its president Khetovi Zhimomi and general secretary Kaholi Yepthomi stated that it is uncalled for a responsible leader like the president of Angami Youth Organization to commit and encourage such act which brings misunderstanding and disunity among the people and that also during the season when all people celebrates the birth of Christ. The act of such hooliganism has spoiled the festive mood of Pherima villagers and even others.
“…Any responsible youth leader who instead of discouraging such acts, having intention of creating tension and chaos among the people is not fit to be a responsible leader. All Nagas irrespective of tribe or community should condemn the act of violence committed by AYO leaders,” it added.
It also said that the union is not against any organization but all like minded people should condemn the incident so that such incidents are not repeated in future.
Moreover, the Pherima Students’ Union supports the ultimatum served to the authorities by Pherima Village Council for arrest of those involved in the incident and therefore, PSU appeals to the concerned authority to speed up its investigation and book the accused at the earliest, failing which, the PSU would resort to its own course of action and the authorities shall be responsible for any outcome of unwanted situation.
