Phesama YO, Elite Sisters win Kohima volleyball titles

  Our Correspondent Kohima | November 29   Phesama Youth Organization (PYO) clinched the champions’ title in the men’s category beating last year’s runners-up Zenith Club, Kezo Town in the final match of the 5th Open Kohima District Volleyball Tournament which concluded here at the Kohima Local Ground on Wednesday.   The tournament was organized by Kohima District Volleyball Association (KDVA) under the theme "Transcending through sports”. Altogether 15 men's team and 8 women's team competed in the championship.   PYO walked home with Rs. 35,000 along with trophy and citation while the runners-up Zenith Club received Rs, 25,000 along with trophy and citation. Losing semi-finalists in men’s category – T. Khel Knights and Tama Youth Society, Mima – received Rs. 5000 each.   In the women’s final, Elite Sisters’ Club defeated defending champions Tiema-Khe Kidima to claim the trophy.   Elite team pocketed a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 along with trophy and citation while runner-up Tiema-Khe Kidima received Rs. 15,000 along with trophy and citation. Losing semifinalist in women’s category, St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama, and Wagers Club received Rs 5000 each.   Earlier, Peter Rutsa, social activist was the match patron for the women’s final while Kethosituo Sekhose, Kohima Municipal Council Administrator, graced the final matches as the guest of honour and gave away prizes to the winners.   Meanwhile, 10 players each for both men and women have been selected to represent Kohima district at the first edition of the Nagaland Olympics which will be held from December 13 to 19 in Dimapur.   Men's volleyball team selection list: Kethovikho from Kiruphema Youth Organization, Kekhriesebei from Kiruphema Youth Organization, Menuokho-o from Tama Youth Society, Imsiitemjen from T.Khel Knights, Kevirielie from Clippers Club, Neisalie from Phesama Youth Organization, Vikehiezo from Phesama Youth Organization, Ato from Phesama Youth Organization, Vimechozo Zenith Club Kezo Town, and Neichiito from Shiirho Mt.
