Phesama’s Makhuma Khel reaffirms water agreement

Kohima, July 29 (MExN): The Chief Engineer PHED, Er. Kevisekho Kruse along with senior officials of the Department held a co-ordination meeting with the water source owners of Dzücharü (stream) represented by the chairman Kuolavilie Mejura along with office bearers of Makhuma Khel Council of Phesama village, at PHED Chief Engineer’s chamber on July 26.  

The meeting re-affirmed the understanding that existed from before between the Department and the Khel Council and made few resolutions aimed at maintaining a clear understanding between the two entities thereby to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply to Kohima city.  

The resolution included provisions, such as, the custodian role to be shouldered by the Makhuma Khel Council, empowering certain officials of the Khel to deal with the Department, protection of the service of persons appointed on land owner based criteria and reviewing of the agreement on expiry of 20 years.
