Phek, November 21 (MExN): The Pholami to Chizami MGNREGA road from Garükrarü to Tacholerü was constructed under MGNREGA 2016-17 and the same was inaugurated by Razouvolie Dozo, Project Director, District Rural Development Agency Phek, on November 19 in the presence of Veduzo Sasu and the villagers of Pholami.
Pholami VDB Secretary Shiekhoto Resuh in a press release stated that Chizami RD Block is the largest in Phek District in terms of Job Card covering eleven villages. Among them Pholami Village is the farthest from RD Block Chizami covering a distance of 52 Km via Pfutsero. After the construction of MGNREGA road the distance has been shortened from 52 Km to 16 Km which is a drastic reduction of 36 Km.
Apart from community base developments, the Project Director encouraged the villagers to do more to improve individual economy through cash crops and Agri-Horti allied farming. He emphasized large Cardamom and Kiwi farming which is doing well in the village and encouraged the villagers to do more and assured of departments help and support.
Earlier in his short speech, Veduzo Sasu Block Development Officer Chizami lauded the villagers for judiciously utilizing the funds under MGNREGA and finishing the project on time and bringing laurel to the department. At the inaugural site, dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Vezokho Vezhu Pastor PBC, act of dedication was performed by Razouvolie Dozo Project Director, DR DA Phek.
The programme was held at Pholami Village Community Hall where Zacusa Medeo was the leader, welcome speech was delivered by Shiekoto Resuh, VDB Secretary Pholami, short speech by Veduzo Sasu BDO Chizami, special folk tune was presented by Pholami Cultural Club and vote of thanks was pronounced by Vesopa Nakro Chairman, Village Council Pholami.
