Pholami council ‘ex-communicates’ NSCN (IM) Tatar

Phek, October 26 (MExN): Pholami Village Council has “ex-communicated” Sahicu Vezhu, Tatar of NSCN (IM) from all Pholami village “functions and benefits” for his “false allegation and insults towards the Pholami Village Council.” This was done during a meeting on October 13 at the Pholami village community hall.

The Pholami Village Council (PVC) stated it is “appalled” by the magnitude of Sahicu’s “lies and misuse of his office” in claiming that the PVC failed to mobilise people to attend the NSCN (IM) meeting called at Sakraba Town on September 22, 2016.

A press statement from Vecuso Medeo, Head GB and Vesopa Nakro, Village Council Chairman (VCC) of Pholami maintained that PVC members were “very much present in this meeting where the VCC spoke, strongly affirming the inherent rights of the Nagas as a Sovereign Nation pledging unwavering commitment to the 1956 plebiscite of the Naga people, which the Tatar of NSCN(IM) Sahicu Vezhu said is wrong and demanded the resignation of the Village Council Chairman threatening with dire consequences to the kin and relatives of the chairman if his dictate is not complied to.”

Further, it claimed that Tatar Sahicu directed the tax in-charge of NSCN (IM) on October 10, 2016 to send Naga Army personnel to arrest the Village Council Chairman, “misinforming the tax collector of NSCN (IM) that Pholami had not paid the annual tax for 2016-2017 to the NSCN (IM), which in reality, he had already drawn an amount of Rs. 5000 from the treasurer in the presence of VCM Mudosu Kezo and Kuhuzhoyi Vezhu on June 29, 2016, the receipt which he had withheld for reasons best known to him.”

“The Pholami Village is issuing this press statement upholding the true spirit of social harmony amongst Naga brethrens and for the true realisation of the Nagas aspiration for self determination,” the statement added, while condemning the “dictates and dishonesty” of Tatar Sahicu Vezhu.

At this crucial juncture when the Nagas are striving for peace and unity, PVC stated, “we cannot allow such a person…to negate the aspiration of the Nagas.”

It further requested the NSCN (IM) authority and all right thinking citizens to understand and strengthen the resolution of the Pholami people that good sense and social harmony may prevail all over Naga country. “The Pholami Village henceforth will not extend its co-operation to any Government or organisation that Sahicu Vezhu is part and partial of,” PVC asserted.
