DIMAPUR, JAN 12 (MExN): The Phom People’s Council (PPC) has said that the accusation made by the NSCN (K) against its rival IM faction holds no water. The Morung Express had earlier carried a news item wherein it had cited the NSCN (K) as saying that the NSCN (IM) was withholding salaries of government employees for the last several months. The PPC has enquired and confirmed that no department experienced “delayed payment to employees so far,” according to a release. Signed by PPC president Y Mangko Phom and general secretary P Manphong Phom, the release further said, “Further, they (NSCN-K) alleged that the STO Longleng had handed over Rs 6, 00, 000 to NSCN (IM) meant for Longleng District employees to Phukam Phom, CAO of the NSCN (IM).”
“The district administration, law enforcing agencies and NGOs have enquired and verified all the relevant documents and found everything intact and correct, and hence there is no question for recovery of double the amount by STO Longleng.”
The council feels that the district administration, NGOs and the law enforcing authority “should not be defamed for no fault of theirs.”
