LONGLENG, FEBRUARY 15 (MExN): The Phom Students’ Conference (PSC), as the representative body of students within the Phom jurisdiction, has strongly opposed the recent rationalization of teachers by the Department of School Education.
In a press statement, the PSC stated that despite repeated appeals for adequate teacher deployment, the latest transfer orders have severely impacted the education system in the district. Several teachers have been transferred along with their posts without relievers, and some have even been relocated outside the district, leaving many schools critically understaffed. This situation has disrupted the academic environment and denied students their fundamental right to quality education.
The PSC also highlighted the department’s own directive (vide letter No. EDS/1-7/2008 dated 9th January 2009), which explicitly prohibits the transfer of teachers from the Eastern region without their consent. The latest transfer orders have disregarded this directive, further jeopardizing the stability of schools in the area.
While recognizing the department's efforts to improve education, the PSC called for urgent corrective actions, including the reposting of teachers who were transferred out of the district and the retention of teachers until proper replacements are appointed.
The PSC emphasized its commitment to safeguarding students’ rights future of students and urged the concerned department to act immediately to prevent further setbacks in the education system.
