Kohima, February 4 (MExN): The Angami Youth Organization (AYO) has condemned the “life attempt” on Ruokuolhoulie Zumu, son of late Dzieselie Zumu of Tuophema village on February 1 at 9:30 PM at his residence near G. Rio School, High School Junction, Kohima by unidentified gunmen.
AYO, in a press release issued by its press secretary Tsoto Sale, stated that Ruokuolhoulie is a physically challenged person, working as SA home department in New Secretariat. He is also a former president of All Nagaland Disabled People Organization. He had a miraculous escape after being shot at point blank range with a bullet lodged in his bridge, spinal cord and on the left arm.
AYO expressed its anger and cautioned any group or person responsible for violating its warning. AYO had earlier cautioned that use of gun culture in its jurisdiction, particularly in Kohima capital will not be tolerated and that it will not remain a silent spectator. AYO further urged the district administration and law enforcing agencies to speed up the investigation and immediately arrest the culprits.
The Organization also appealed to the state government to strengthen arm securities for the safety of the civil public in the state capital “so that such incidence does not occur and disturb the peaceful citizens of Kohima.”
Tuophema Village Youth Organization
In a separate release, Tuophema Village Youth Organization (TVYO) strongly condemned the life attempt on Ruokuolhoulie Zumu at his residence by two unidentified miscreants. TVYO stated that the victim is a peace loving citizen and a physically challenged person who formerly served as the president of Northern Angami Handicapped Union, Kohima and Nagaland. He made immense contributions toward the welfare of the differently abled bodies/organizations during his tenure, it added.
Further, TVYO lamented that despite the fact that such persons deserve special treatment in the society, “they are also no longer spared from such brutality.” The organization also brought to the notice of the public that the victim is said to be in a critical condition, battling for life.
TVYO earnestly appealed to the various organizations and law enforcing bodies to come forward and take due stock of the matter and bring up measure to tackle and control the dominance of such “anti-Christian elements emerging in our land, which is threatening the peaceful existence of our society.” The organization asserted that “such heinous crime and cowardice act do not deserve a place in a civilized world.” As such, the organization urged upon the authority concerned to pursue the case at the earliest and award befitting punishment to the criminals and deliver justice to the victim and his family.
