Dimapur July 15 (MExN): Terming as “much unfortunate” for all the Nagas that “some Nagas mostly from the southern part of Nagaland” are being misled by the NSCN-IM, the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) regretted that “piecemeal integration or affiliation” is being pursued.
“It is very much unfortunate for all Nagas that some Nagas, mostly from the southern part of Nagaland – Tangkhul, Zeliangrong, Chandel, Shepoumaramth – are misled by a pseudo Naga group. Thus they are carrying out rally or political agitation in support of piecemeal integration or affiliation with the so-called Nagaland puppet state” Gaibon Panmei, Deputy Rali-Wali, FGN stated in a release adding that this a political blunder and would not help to solve the Indo-Naga conflict.
According to the FGN, Nagas are a nation and the question of integration or affiliation within a sovereign Nagaland does not arise since the beginning the Nagas were united under the banner of the Naga National Council (NNC) and fought against India. “Tangkhul Nagas and Eastern Nagas joined the NNC to defend the sovereignty and independent Nagaland. And our national objective is to be a member in the United Nations as a nation in the world” it was stated while reaffirming that integration or affiliation “from an Indian state to another Indian puppet state is not our National objective and it will not be a solution to the Indo-Naga conflict”. The FGN contended that Th.Muivah defected on his own interest and “now he is demanding piecemeal integration from New Delhi Government, which is an act of treason”. Towards this, the FGN cautioned that any support to the “piecemeal integration” of Th.Muivah would be deemed treason, accordingly to the Lakhuti Resolution of April 27, 1955.
Stating that the Naga people from the Southern part of Nagaland has suffered much due to what the FGN termed as wrong policy of Th.Muivah, the same people will face another spate of suffering because “following the policy of Muivah they began to burn the school text books and started to demand controversial affiliation”. While asserting that such “self-created sufferings” are uncalled for and questioning who would bear the responsibility for the loss, the FGN stated that ‘huge destruction’ has unwisely been brought about upon schoolchildren who are the future leaders of tomorrow.
Stating that the consequences would be irreparable, the FGN stated that no sectarian leadership should repeat the same again in any part of Nagaland for children since they are “the pillars of our nation”.
