Plantation drive held in Wokha

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 24 (MExN): A special plantation drive was organized in Ward-10, Wokha, under the initiative of Town Councillor Thungchano Kikon. 

The event, themed “Cherry 10 & Go Green,” focused on the preservation of indigenous plants, including the cherry plant, and aimed to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining a healthy environment.

The plantation drive saw the distribution and planting of around 1,500 saplings, including wild apples and other native species, across the six colonies that make up Ward-10. The event began with a formal gathering at the residence of Dr. Zuben Kikon, Chief Medical Officer of Wokha, in Blue Hill Colony. 

During her address, Councillor Thungchano Kikon emphasized the critical role trees play in improving air quality and providing oxygen. She highlighted the importance of planting more trees to create a safer, healthier environment for future generations.
