Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh will lead a star studded BJP campaign in Nagaland for the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections.
The Bharatiya Janata Party drew up a list of 40 to-be star campaigners on Tuesday, February 6, which was later submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland. While 30 of the names on the list are national and regional (North East) BJP bigwigs, 10 are Party functionaries from Nagaland.
“This is just the list we submitted to the CEO, but we have still not decided who will actually come to Nagaland or when,” stated a central BJP source while confirming the sanctity of the list. Generally, the source explained, the Party submits a list of 40 star campaigners for each state that goes to polls and not all necessarily campaign on ground.
The local leaders named in the list will accompany the national and regional leaders, it was stated. Apart from the PM and HM, other big star campaigners in the list include BJP National President, Amit Shah, Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj, BJP National General Secretary (Organizing), Ramlal, National General Secretary, Ram Madhav, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, JP Nadda, Defense Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman.
Apart from them, people in Nagaland may also get to hear from Piyush Goyal, Smriti Zubin Irani, Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram, Jayant Sinha, KJ Alphons, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Kiren Rijiju, Rajen Gohain, Babul Supriyo, Manohar Parrikar, Sarbananda Sonowal, Pema Khandu, Tapir Gao, N Biren Singh, Hemanta Biswa Sarma, Th. Biswajeet Singh, Ajay Jamwal, Manoj Tiwari and Anant Narayan Mishra.
Local names on the list include Visasolie Lhoungu, M Chuba Ao, KL Chishi, Paiwang Konyak, Mmhonlumo Kikon, Hurui Zeliang, K Kaghali Chishi, Sanuo Ngully, Yambose Murry and Khiubangdibo.
