Kiphire, February 10 (MExN): A one-day market awareness workshop under the PM Vishwakarma scheme was held on February 9 at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall, Kiphire, to sensitise traditional artisans on skill development, branding, market linkages and government support mechanisms.
The workshop was organised by the Ministry of MSME through the MSME Development and Facilitation Office (DFO), Dimapur, in association with the Department of Industries & Commerce and the District Industries Centre (DIC), Kiphire.
General Manager, DIC Dimapur, Intsangju Y Sangtam delivered the commencement address, by welcoming artisans and encouraging them to actively participate in technical sessions and explore market linkage opportunities facilitated through the DIC.
Functional Manager, DIC Dimapur, Nongshe, briefed the participants on various schemes under the Ministry of MSME and the State government, urging artisans to avail themselves of available support and seek assistance through the DIC.
An interactive session on branding, product design and marketing was conducted by the State Programme Management Unit (SPMU), PM Vishwakarma, a DIPr report informed.
This was followed by an open interaction involving artisans, DIC and the SPMU, during which queries related to training, toolkits and credit support under the scheme were addressed, it added.
The PM Vishwakarma scheme is a Central Sector initiative aimed at recognising and empowering traditional artisans and craftspeople, collectively referred to as Vishwakarmas.
The scheme supports practitioners engaged in 18 traditional trades, including carpentry, basket weaving and blacksmithing, which are deeply rooted in India’s cultural and occupational heritage.
