Mokokchung, June 27 (MExN): Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) today demanded release of pending PMEGP 2014-15 funds at the earliest “keeping in view that the applicants of Mokokchung do not fall short of their visions and potentials.”
In a press statement, MTLT Public Grievances Cell and Media Cell further said that the PMEGP scheme by objective is for the welfare of unemployed youths. “Hence, youths must not be made to wait to find employment due to lack of approved governmental funding.” It also stated that PMEGP beneficiaries must be accountable in recovering the loans accordingly.
The statement mentioned that based on grievances reports received by the MTLT Public Grievances Cell from the PMEGP 2014-15 beneficiaries of Mokokchung, the MTLT had met the Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung to highlight the concerns and to inquire about the latest updates on the same. The MTLT also met the bank managers of the different banks in Mokokchung to discuss about the reasons for the delay of release of funds, it was informed.
It further pointed out that the Government of India’s PMEGP scheme has been the backbone of employment generation for many educated citizens since its introduction in 2008 and hence, has created self-reliant sources of income for many in Nagaland. Its three-point set of objectives shows the importance of youth and the subsequent benefits of encouraging continuous and sustainable development.
