Wokha, March 5 (MExN): The district administration and supply department in Wokha will conduct an awareness-cum-free LPG connection exercise under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) 3.0 in Wokha town on March 6.
The programme is being organised in collaboration with gas agencies, including Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and Hindustan Petroleum (HPL).
PMUY, launched by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, aims to provide free LPG gas cylinder connections to women from economically weaker families, particularly in rural areas, under the motto “Clean Fuel, Better Life” to improve health, safety and living conditions.
According to officials, the awareness and distribution programme will be held from 10 am to 3 pm at three locations in Wokha town — NST area, Police Point and Niropen Colony.
Citizens of Wokha town, preferably women, who wish to avail the benefits of the scheme have been asked to report to the nearest venue with required documents. These include the applicant’s Aadhaar card, bank account details with IFSC code, ration card showing family members along with their Aadhaar cards, and the applicant’s phone number.
The district administration has urged eligible citizens to participate actively in the programme and avail the benefits of the scheme, which promotes the use of clean cooking fuel and aims to reduce health hazards associated with traditional cooking methods.
