PMVDY-ESDP training for beneficiaries in Nagaland

Chümoukedima, February 17 (MExN): Prime Minister Van Dhan Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programme (PMVDY-ESDP) training for PMVDY beneficiaries under State Implementing Agency MARCOFED Ltd was inaugurated in Mount Merry College, Chümoukedima on February 17. 

The programme was inaugurated by MARCOFED Chairman, Dr M Chuba in the presence of Nukshilemla, Manager, Rongsentoshi, Executive Officer and other officials of MARCOFED Dimapur, IIE Guwahati and 150 PMVDY beneficiaries from five Prime Minister Van Dhan Vikash Kendra clusters.

While inaugurating the PMVDY-ESDP programme the Chairman of MARCOFED, Dr M Chuba explained about the global market value of the Minor Forest Produce (MFP), which has been traditionally used by the Naga community.

PMVDY-ESDP has been planned and designed with the objective to impart and upgrade value addition skill on Minor Forest Produce for the tribal beneficiaries of the state of Nagaland, he said. 

The objectives and modalities of ESDP trainings were explained by Project Leads of IIE Chandan Pachani and Jintu Shill. It was followed by an interaction session with beneficiaries, where more clarity on ESDP and PMVDY was elaborated by the IIE officials.

A total of 57 Van Dhan Vikash Kendra will be trained under Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programme (ESDP) this financial year, stated a press release received here. 

IIE has been entrusted as a technical agency by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India for the PMVDY- ESDP implementation in the state of Nagaland. IIE will impart 175 ESDP Training in the Prime Minister Van Dhan Vikas Kendra Clusters of Nagaland. Project Leads of IIE PMVDY – Assam initiated the process with Honey Mission, MARCOFED situated at Dimapur and Department of under Developed Area (DUDA) Kohima, Government of Nagaland.

PMVDY-ESDP has been planned for 30 days for 25 participants for each PMVDY clusters of Nagaland. Master trainers have been impaneled for the training programmes. The trades of the trainings are Food processing, food processing (mushroom), bamboo utility, handicraft, soap making, baking. 

The meeting was concluded with a thanks giving note by Nukshilemla, Manager MARCOFED.
