The Poanglüm Mini Hornbill Festival ‘Lüm Lin’ (Joyous Parting) event at Parade Ground Tuensang on January 13 was graced by the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio.

The festival witnessed cultural performances by Waoshu Village and Yangpi Village women, and various indigenous games. Yali village, Hakchang village, and Yonyu village secured the top positions in Sekmou Onet. Saksi 3rd NAP dominated the men’s tug of war winning it for five consecutive years, while High School A and Post Office Sector secured second and third places.
In the women’s tug of war, High School A claimed the first spot, followed by St John A and St John B. Traditional chicken coop making saw Chingmak in the lead, with Ongli and Thranso securing second and third places. The day concluded with the bamboo slashing competition, where B Yemlong of Bazar B emerged as the winner, followed by T Yunglem of Saksi and Chaolu of Sangdak coming second and third.

Earlier, the newly crowned Miss Chang 2024, Sometnaro S extended Poanglüm Greetings, and Rev H Sangkap, Pastor Tuensang Baptist Lashong offered an invocation prayer.
A song ‘Shensinge Chia’ was presented by Eli Imti while a short speech was delivered by Tingdok Konyak, President, Konyak Union. Yungkük Baptist Church, winner of 1st Tradigraphy Competition 2024, showcased a choreography performance.

In the evening, a musical night was hosted with vote of thanks from Amoongli W Chang, Convenor of Poanglüm Planning Committee. The 5 Minutes Band from Mon comprising of band members, Joseph Konyak, Hentick Konyak, Akun Wanghum and Yenwang Konyak, popular for singing Hindi songs, and Matu Zeliang, a cop with a captivating voice enthralled the audience.
