
Meluri, August 18 (MExN): A general meeting of the Pochury Hoho was held at GHSS Auditorium, Meluri on August 13 during which a new team of office bearers, elected on August 12 by Office bearers and Executive members for a 5-year tenure (2016-20), was approved by the house.
The new team, led by President Akho Leyri and General Secretary Sierhosie Kajiri, has been asked to perform all the necessary procedures for taking charge within 10 days, a press release from the Hoho informed.
Re-affirming a previous resolution taken on February 10, 2015, the Hoho strongly appealed to all NPGs to maintain maximum restraint and avoid conflicts and misunderstanding in order to maintain peace and tranquility in Pochury area and the Naga areas as a whole.
“Naga people in the spirit of forgiveness and oneness will ceaselessly strive and work for the restorative unity for the common purpose towards achieving our Naga political aspiration,” the Hoho maintained.
With regard to the outbreak of measles in the bordering Naga areas of Myanmar, the village councils were reminded and instructed to restrict socializing and contacting bordering villages of Myanmar. In case of any such eventuality, the Hoho directed that the cases be reported to the Administration or to the Medical staff for quick response.
Later, the silver jubilee souvenir was distributed to all the village council chairmen.
