KOHIMA, APRIL 20 (MExN): The Pochury Public has threatened to stop extraction of all mineral resources within its jurisdiction forthwith unless their demand for creation separate Pochury assembly constituency is met by the government.
Pochury Public Forum release issued by its president Penthii Pochury demanded that should the delimitation or readjustment and rationalization of assembly constituencies take place in Nagaland, a separate constituency should be created for the Pochury to enable them to preserve their tribal identity.
This decision to demand separate constituency arrived at a general meeting held on April 19 last at Meluri, where the house also extend its support to the resolution passed by the Nagaland Legislative Assembly for maintaining status quo.
However, the release cautioned that, if status quo has to be applied to the Pochury overriding their demand for separate constituencies, the Pochury will go to any extend to meet their just and legitimate demand fulfilled.
All churches in Pochury area have also asked to observe fasting and prayer on April 25 next from 6 am to 12 noon under the theme ‘if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, then will I hear from heaven and will heal their land’, (2 Chronicles 7:14) to so as to make the resolution successful. All Educational institutions and other establishments will remain closed on that day, the release also added.
