The Pochury Women Organization Kohima (PWOK) on Friday celebrated its silver jubilee with minister for school education & SCERT Yitachu as the chief guest and parliamentary sectary for MTF & lotteries Khiehu Liezietsu as the guest of honour.

Yitachu said that no nation or any given polity in the world has progressed or achieved civilization without providing equal opportunity to the women, be it in the field of education, health care, economic or peaceful prosperous social living.

He said those countries/societies and communities where women are given equal participation and equal opportunity then it is those nations that march forward. He greeted and wishes PWOK for a more successful and prosperous organization. Dwelling on PWOK silver jubilee theme “Know your strengths,” the minister said “Your strength is nothing but God alone.”

He said it is only when you know God, you fear God and trust God then that is the real source of your strength, because God is truth and truth is justice and justice brings peace and peaceful environment brings prosperity and happiness and that peaceful environment represents God. “But if we think that our strength is our knowledge, our wealth or our physical wellbeing then it is not going to take us anywhere forward.

Yitachu also stressed on the need to realize the real source of strength, while also lamenting that whether women organization, overground or underground, politicians, bureaucrats or officers, we don’t see our strength in God but we see our strength in our pride, our relatives friends etc. and that is where things are going wrong, wrong and wrong. He urged upon the women organizations to take the lead and really understand the real source of strength and take the society forward.

Khriehu Liezietsu congratulated the visionary leaders who formed PWOK 25 years back, starting a noble initiative to bring their fellow people together and help each other in times of hardship and to provide to one another a sense of homely environment and sisterhood. He was appreciative that the organization has organized numerous seminars on women’s health, mother and child relationship, women’s role in building a healthy society and other women related issues.

Stating that jubilee is a time to seek God’s guidance and blessings afresh, Liezietsu said “Let this silver jubilee celebration be a time to strengthen the organization further as you achieve one important milestone and march onto the future.”

Earlier, president Pochury Hoho Kohima and president Pochury Mothers Association shared greetings.

PWOK president Malsawmthangi Leyri delivered presidential address. Neino Katiry, founding president PWOK also spoke on the occasion. The function was led by Atono Nyuthe while vote of thanks was delivered by P. Sanuo Jurry, convenor organizing committee.
