Pol-Fiesta celebrates spirit of learning and talent at St. Joseph University

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 22 (MExN): The Department of Political Science at St. Joseph University, Chümoukedima, hosted the Pol-Fiesta 2024 on September 18 and 19, under the theme "Igniting Minds." The event, organized by the Political Science Association (PSA), featured a series of competitions aimed at fostering debate and creativity among students.

The two-day fest kicked off with an inter-institution debate competition on the topic “NLTP Act is the Shield Against the Fire of Alcohol.” Eight institutions participated in the event. St. Joseph College, Jakhama emerged as the winner, while Dimapur Government College secured the second position.

The inaugural session of the event featured Nunese Sale, CEO of Nune’s Construction, Nagaland, as the guest of honor. In his address, he urged students to work hard and strive for success. Highlighting the importance of honest effort, he shared inspiring stories of his associates who have balanced work and education successfully. Sale also emphasized the need for students to ignite their minds and pursue their dreams with determination.

The session was chaired by Limongi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science. The welcome address was delivered by Sedevinuo Yhome, President of the PSA, while Dr. Achanger, Head of the Department of Political Science, released the PSA Constitution. Words of gratitude were expressed by Heli, Assistant Professor and Advisor to the PSA.

The second day of the fest saw a series of class competitions, including acapella, solo instrumental performances, movie monologues, political leader mimicry, dance battles, treasure hunts, and art and writing contests. Nine classes from the department participated, showcasing their talents and creativity. UG III Semester (A), under the supervision of Dr. Moameren, was crowned the overall class champion, taking home the trophy and a cash prize.

Pol-Fiesta 2024 successfully achieved its objective of encouraging and enhancing the talents of students, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and competition within the department.
