Phek, December 10 (MExN): The Phek Organic Large Cardamom Producer Company Limited (POLCPCL) has flagged-off the cargo for transporting 20 metric tons of dried large cardamom to Siliguri at Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) Gate, Pfutsero Town.
The cargo was sent off with a prayer by Rev Dr VK Nuh, former Executive Secretary, CBCC.
The Joint Director of Agriculture, Government of Nagaland and also Nodal Officer, MOVCDNER Remphamo Lotha during the flag-off held on December 9 reiterated that the department is committed to help keen farmers and entrepreneurs. “Nagas should do away with spoon feeding culture and inculcate work culture,” he said while highlighting various schemes and programmes of the department and on the huge prospect of agriculture sector.
According to a press release, POLCPCL was established in the year 2017 under the programme of MOVDNER and incorporated under the Company Act 2013 of MCA in 2018. At present it has 500 share subscribers who are primary producers. The company also has C3 Organic Certificate for large cardamom.
“POLCPCL is not only engaged in production, procurement and marketing, but also supplies organic planting materials, rendering technical services to cardamom farmers and training them as well,” it stated. In the year 2018-19, it marketed 20 metric tons of cardamom, in 2019-2020 it increased to 50 metric tons and in 2020-21, it is expecting to market 55 tons.
The ceremony was chaired by Wepekha Wetsah, Chairman, Board of Directors, POLCPCL and invocation prayer was led by Rev Khrotso Mero, Executive Secretary, CBCC.
Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO), President, Mikha Kenye in his speech said that CPO is trying its best to promote local economy. He urged for a better collaboration between the farmers and the department and requested the department to help famers create market avenues. Dr James Chawang, Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture, Government of Nagaland also spoke during the event.
