Police Badminton Championship: Nagaland bags 7 medals; Chief Minister lauds players

Dimapur, October 27 (MExN): The Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio today lauded the achievement of Nagaland Police at the 11th All India Police Badminton Championship. The Championship was held from October 22-26.

The Nagaland team won seven medals - 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze. Bendangnaro and Imlirenla won the gold and silver respectively in Women's Single, besides partnering capture the women’s doubles title. Bendangnaro will represent India at the World Police Badminton Championship.  

Imlirenla also added gold by partnering with Joseph Sumi to win the mixed-double. “Congratulations to @NagalandPolice for their remarkable performance at the All India Police Badminton Championship & for winning 3 Gold medals,” Chief Minister stated in a tweet.  

“ All the best to Bendangnaro, winner of Gold medal in Women's Single, as she represents #India at the World Police Badminton Championship,” he added.  

Meanwhile, according to media reports, the 5-day event was conducted at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi, 36 teams from State police and Central Armed Police Forces took part. Mizoram police team clinched overall championship while CRPF team won the runner-up team championship.
