Police seize vehicle with liquor

Kohima, June 3 (MExN): The personnel of Chiephobozou Police Station and Tseminyu Police Station have seized a vehicle (Hyundai Santro) which was carrying liquor.   According to a press release from Atu Zumvü, SDPO/PRO, Kohima Police, the vehicle coming from Kohima side was signaled to stop by the personnel of Chiephobozou Police Station during routine frisking and checking of vehicles. However, it sped away towards Tseminyu.   This was followed by a hot pursuit and the information was relayed to Tseminyu Police Station to intercept the vehicle on approaching Tseminyu, the release said.   The team from Tseminyu P.S came from the opposite direction and the vehicle bearing registration No.NL07-3210 was intercepted after its engine caught fire some half a kilometre away from Tseminyu Town. The driver and occupants had abandoned the Hyundai Santro and fled from the scene, it said.

  345 bottles of Mc Rum were found concealed in modified compartments within the cavity of the vehicle.   In this connection, a regular case vide Kohima Chiephobozou P.S Case No. 0008/2016 U/S 188/279 IPC R/W 44(1)(a)(e) NLTP Act has been registered for further investigation. Meanwhile, the PRO informed that the details of the seized Hyundai Santro was verified from the NCRB database and was ascertained that the registration No. NL07-3210 was originally allotted to a Mahindra Bolero by DTO Dimapur.
