Dr. Sheila Longkumer and Dr. Lanuakum administer polio drops during Shivaratri Mela held at Rangapahar on February 27.
Dimapur, March 1 (MExN): Dr. Sheila Longkumer, WHO Consultant, Dr. Lanuakum, DPO (RCH-UIP) and Dr. Obed, MO along with other medical staff continued to carry out Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) in Dimapur during Shivaratri Mela at Rangapahar on February 27. A press release informed that house to house immunization continued during the week to cover those children missed during the booth day on Sunday last.
The release stated that 109% immunization coverage has been achieved during the 2nd phase of IPPI 2014 in Dimapur district. Dr. M.A Wati, Chief Medical Officer, has extended his appreciation to Dr. Imchameren Jamir, Dy. CMO, Dr. Rio, state Monitoring official, all programme officers, health workers, and administrative officers for their support. He especially lauded NGOs such as Muslim Council, Lion’s Club, Rotary Club, Helpers’ Club, Assam Rifle, Railway officials, Defense personnel etc for their constant support and co-operation in assisting the department during IPPI.
