Phek, June 27 (MExN): The Chakhesang Clean Election Movement (CCEM) comprising Chakhesang Public Organization, other frontal organizations, and different church denominations had a joint meeting with the different political parties such as NPF, INC, NC, BJP, UNDP of Phek district on June 27 at Chakhesang Baptist Church Council's conference hall. Presidents of different political parties and senior leaders spoke during the meeting and strongly supported the CCEM guidelines and to go ahead with the movement for a positive transformation, stated a press release from Kupelhi Losou, Media Secretary, CCEM.
NPCC president and former finance minister, K. Therie, president CPO, Kekhwengulo Lea, Vapramu Demo, Theja Therie also delivered strong messages in support of CCEM guidelines at the meeting, the release added.
They requested the CCEM and church leaders to take responsibility to bring change as church plays important role in changing politics. Suggestions were given to the church to be more practical and go through the electoral roll, and impart to the believers the effects of money during elections. They further requested the CCEM to activate Clean Election ideas and bring clean electoral roll to make clean election a reality.
Leaders from different political parties also requested to choose their leaders wisely and stop media wars which affect individuals and the community as a whole.
In the end, the CCEM Convenor, Dr. Kuzhopoyo Tunyi asked all the participants to raise hands as a sign of their support towards the Clean Election movement. The response was very positive, according to the press release. The CCEM Convenor also read out the 18 points of CCEM guidelines to the party leaders.
The meeting concluded with all political parties affirming for a better future for the next generation and dedicating oneself to sustain the CCEM and the NBCC guidelines, it was added.
