‘Political problem of Nagaland will be solved’: Governor

Mokokchung, April 13 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland, La. Ganesan on Thursday said he was optimistic that “the political problem of Nagaland will be solved and Nagaland would prosper and be at par with the rest of the country.”

He stated this during his visit to Mokokchung where he held a meeting with the Head of Offices and leaders of civil societies in Mokokchung district on April 13, according to a DIPR report. 

Addressing the house, the Governor mentioned his appreciation to the people of Mokokchung district for the huge turnout of voters during the recently concluded General Election and maintained, ‘there can be rule of law only with the active participation of the people.’ He reminded the people ‘not to undermine the election process and the electorates if the society is to move forward,’ the DIPR report stated. 

The Governor said that basic necessities like education, health care, drinking water and financial institutions must be made available at the doorstep of the citizens, especially for downtrodden people.

He urged upon the officers of the concern departments to ensure that the flagship programmes of government pertaining to basic services are diligently implemented for the welfare of the people. 

He also requested the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung to have periodic review on the implementation of the various schemes and programmes in the district and to take necessary action to meet the goals and target if there are any shortfalls. 

Representatives from Ao Senden, Watsu Mungdang, AKM, GB Union, All Ward Union, MCCI and other civil societies shared their grievances and opinions on certain issues related to ULB election, naga solution, women empowerment, civil service project (UPSC Aspirant Trust Fund), drinking water problem in Mokokchung town, proper road connectivity of all the districts etc. 

To this, the Governor responded that he would draft letter to the concern ministers and the Chief Minister and assured to do whatever he could in his capacity.
