Dimapur, October 12 (MExN): The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has asserted that the unprecedented opposition-less political arrangement in Nagaland must move beyond symbolic legislative harmony and translate into a transparent, time-bound development roadmap.
In a strongly worded press statement, LJP (Ram Vilas) National Secretary S Richard Humtsoe emphasized that political consensus without public accountability squanders a historic opportunity for the state.
Declaring that "unconditional support is not a blank cheque," Humtsoe maintained that smaller political parties backing the NPF-BJP-led government must serve as active, meaningful partners in policy formulation and development rather than silent bystanders.
The LJP leader stressed that political cooperation should never extinguish independent judgment, public scrutiny, or legitimate questions regarding administrative efficiency, regional equity, and public expenditure.
He pointed out that while political unity and stability provide favorable conditions for governance, they cannot guarantee progress by themselves unless backed by a coherent strategy.
To address this, the party called for a comprehensive and structured common vision framework addressing critical state priorities. Key areas highlighted include facilitating a peaceful, honorable, and mutually acceptable resolution of the Naga political issue, ensuring rigorous financial transparency and reporting on public funds, building robust rural infrastructure, advancing value-added agriculture and rural entrepreneurship, and generating sustainable employment opportunities for the state's youth.
Urging the ruling dispensation to establish measurable annual targets, clear institutional responsibilities, and regular performance evaluations, the party concluded that political alliances must ultimately be judged by tangible improvements in the welfare and daily lives of the citizens of Nagaland, rather than mere political declarations.
