Monthly meeting of District Planning and Development Board Kiphire was held at the DPDB Hall Kiphire with MLA and Chairman DPDB Kiphire, C Kipili Sangtam chairing the meeting today.
During discussions, attention was drawn to the poor road conditions within Kiphire town, emphasising the need for improvement, which will be addressed under Urban Development.
Chairman DPDB Kiphire, C Kipili Sangtam in his address said that land is required for every development; however, there are hindrances to occupied land.
DC and Vice Chairman DPDB, John Tsulise while participating in the discussion asked the Urban Development Department to update the status of road maintenance in the district. He also enquired on the status of National Highway. ‘Land acquisition issues hinder many developments in the district,’ he maintained. He made the suggestion to invite leaders from the neighbouring places of Kiphire town so that land is made available on payment for development.
Official from the Urban Development Department while taking part in discussion disclosed that “out of 26 km in Kiphire town, only 6.850 m km is maintained, in Seyochung town out of 4 km only 1 km is covered and in Pungro town out of 10 km 60 mtrs only 1 km 60 mtrs is maintained.”
The deteriorating road conditions within the town were also discussed. Regarding the issue of National Highway, the department concerned was requested to come with detail proposal in next DPDB meeting.
A DIPR report added that the meeting discussed the proposal for introducing a BSc (Science) stream at Zisaji Presidency College and the recognition of Tsungmulung village under Kiphire were approved for forwarding to higher authorities for consideration.
On the upgradation of Yangphi Government High School and Registration of Alongti Welfare Society, discussions on these matters were deferred to the next meeting due to the absence of a member to highlight the issues.
A presentation was delivered by the Fishery Department during the session. The Land Resources Department and District Soil and Water Conservation Department have been requested to present their PowerPoint presentations in the upcoming DPDB meeting.
