Poor internet connectivity affects students in Nagaland

ANCSU appeals to government for intervention 

 

Dimapur, May 25 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU), in a representation addressed to the Nagaland state Advisor, IT&C, NRE and Science & Technology, Mmhonlumo Kikon stated that the students’ community at this trying time has been adversely affected because of the poor internet connectivity. 


The representation appended by President Vimeyiekho Vitso and General Secretary Imnameren N Jamir stated that as the nation is swamped into combating the COVID-19 pandemic, at the same time the nation is also preparing for the progress of its education, and “our state cannot race out from this peculiar progress.”


Online classes, online tutoring, online admission, online examinations, e-book study materials and other electronic-communications are being used to endeavor the academic aspects in our state as well. 


“However, the poor network facility is evidently an impediment to many of the online activities for the students. Along with the world, our state should also embark to modern education, and better Internet connectivity can best support the undertaking,” the Union highlighted.

 Therefore, “with a hope,” the ANCSU has appealed for instantaneous intervention in this regard. “This prayer is put forth to facilitate upcoming online educational activities,” the Union added. 


Appeals for NSEE centres in every district
The Union has also appealed to the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) set up exam centers in every district to conduct Nagaland State Entrance Examination (NSEE).


In an appeal letter to the NBSE Chairperson, ANCSU President Vimeyiekho Vitso and General Secretary Imnameren N Jamir said that the candidates should be given preference to choose their exam centres as per their residence so that no student is deprived of appearing the exam.


“Such exam centers should be identified at the earliest and necessary preparations relating to the exam and to fight the threat of COVID-19 should be kept ready,” it said.
