Zunheboto, July 14 (MExN): District Health Society, Zunheboto observed World population Day under the theme ‘healthy timing and spacing of pregnancies for wellbeing of mother and child’ at Suruhuto Primary Health Centre, Zunheboto on July 12. 

District Programme officer (RCH/UIP) Dr. Heto Swu highlighted on the significance of World Population day & Population Stabilization Fortnight activities which is being held from July 11-24 which will be carried out in all the blocks and villages under Zunheboto district, stated a press release from District Media Officer. 

He stated that it is important to keep adequate spacing of 3 years between two children for the health of the mother and child, to adopt family planning procedure especially post partum or post abortion. 

He added that various family planning methods will be made available, free services like post partum sterilization, IUCD & PPIUCD insertions, Vasectomy and tubectomy, use of contraceptives, condoms and awareness of family planning through IEC activities of interpersonal communication, Focus group discussion, distribution of leaflets and display of posters. 

Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) camp was conducted after the programme at the Primary Health Centre Suruhuto. 

The medical team included district programme officer (UIP & RCH) Dr Heto Swu, sr specialist obstetrics & gynae DH, Dr.Kapfo, Opthalmologist, Dr Lipokyanger, Dr Gihuka, Dr Tokaito, Dental Dr Kiyeto, DPMU, BPMU, RBSK MMU and DAPCU staff rendered their services to the public. 

During the camp, 285 people availed free medical services such as sterilization-6, IUCD-8, ANC-7, Ultrasound- 32, Eye-72, Dental-78, NCD screening and laboratory test.
