
Phek, July 26 (MExN): District Health Society, Phek has observed Population Stabilization Fortnight from July 11 to 23. A press release stated that during the fortnight, different activities on family planning such as display of posters and banners on Family Planning were displayed in all the health units. Condoms, Oral Contraceptive Pills (OCP) and Emergency Contraceptive Pills were given to those who opted for temporary family planning method. Counselling service on family planning was also given in all the health units and leaflets on family planning printed on local dialects were distributed.
Total 56 female sterilizations (Tubectomy) and six male sterilizations (NSV) was carried out at District Hospital, Phek during the forthnight by Dr. Lhishelo MO Chizami and team.
Also total of 102 IUCD (Intra Uterine Contraceptive Device) and 2 PPIUCD was INSERT IGNOREed, 1488 condoms, 391 strips of OCP and 17 ECP were given out.
Counselling was also conducted with all the female and male acceptors on Family Planning during the observation. Interpersonal Communication (IPC) through Focus Group Discussion on family planning was held with the eligible couples, lactating mothers and pregnant women, total of 313 participants took part in the FGD.
