DIMAPUR, APRIL 21 (MExN): The Pork Butchers’ Union has informed that all pork butcher shops will be closed in Dimapur from April 24 till further notice. A press release from the union informed that supply of pig has been banned to enter the State by the Assam Government from March 13 till date. “At present, the pig which is imported from Assam called Assam local, is selling at high rate by wholesalers which causes huge problem to the butchers to run their business and earn their daily wages,” the union said. The union said that it has therefore decided to ban import of pigs from Assam i.e. Assam Local, “until the supply is imported in the State.”
