KYO demands prompt strict action
Meanwhile, the Kiruphema Youth Organisation (KYO), while condemning the alleged assault, has demanded strict action against the culprits at the earliest.

It further appealed the investigating authority to “expedite the matter and provide befitting punishment to the culprits for ends of justice so as to avoid any circumstances that may arise further.”

All the right thinking individuals and organisations should condemn this cowardly act committed by the culprits and hopes that good sense will prevail, it added.

According to the KYO, the ‘miscreants’ barged into the PHED official quarter and broke open the quarter gate and allegedly thrashed the gate keeper and his family members.

Later they harassed and assaulted a bonafide member of KYO and 8 other “continuously for almost an hour not sparing even woman and students,” the organisation claimed.

The organisation identified the culprits as one Melie Nakhro & accomplices, and they allegedly carried out the act by holding the victims responsible the lost of their supporting candidate in the Western Angami AC.

The KYOs bonafide member was “shamed and trashed repeatedly for being a citizen of Kiruphema Village, as stated by the victim and also evident from the video that went viral,” it further pointed out.

The organisation would like to know the motive behind the act of the culprits and if they targeting persons who are citizens of Kiruphema Village or if they have any grievances against the Kiruphema Village in particular, the KYO stated.
Accordingly, it condemned the “heinous and barbaric act in the highest form” and further cautioned that any individual or group harassing any of its bonafide members in connection with the recently concluded General election will not be tolerated in any manner whatsoever.

“The organisation has no ill-will against any individual or community because of his/her preferences or choice of candidate in elections as it strongly believes and practices the Democratic values that are enshrined in the Constitution of India,” it added.

The KYO also underscored that the Western Angami AC holds a “straight record for being the most peaceful constituency in conducting general elections since inception but the cowardly acts meted out by the culprits has permanently tarnished the good image.”

To this end, it demanded prompt and strict action against the culprits at the earliest and appealed to the investigating authority to expedite the matter.
