Dimapur, November 28 (MExN): The Poultry Union Dimapur has welcomed the recent directive issued by the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) banning the import of dressed broiler meat from Assam.
The Union described the move as “timely and necessary,” noting that the unregulated entry of dressed poultry meat without proper inspection poses a serious threat to public health.
The directive, the Union added, will also benefit local poultry traders and give a boost to the local economy.
Assuring strict monitoring of broiler meat entering from across the border, the Union pledged full cooperation with the DMC in implementing the ban.
It further urged consumers, traders, and stakeholders to cooperate with municipal authorities in the interest of public health.
The Union warned that strict action will be taken against any traders found violating the ban.
