Power affected in pockets of Dimapur after transformer catches fire

Dimapur | April 13

Power supply to one of Dimapur’s main business hub, Nyamo Lotha Road was disrupted on April 13 after a distribution transformer caught fire. According to a Power Department official, the 250kV transformer went up in flames in the wee hours, around 5:30 am, following the morning’s downpour. A suspected oil leakage coupled with heat was attributed to have caused the fire. There was a spare available but it could not be installed during the day because of traffic congestion. The official said that the spare will be installed early on Saturday morning. It will likely take an hour to complete the installation and resuming supply, the official informed.
